Siemens APOGEE & Desigo Building Automation Service in Phoenix, AZ
The system running the hospital and the university campus, with a lineage back to the pneumatic thermostats on their oldest walls.
Siemens building automation runs some of the largest institutional facilities in the Phoenix metro — hospitals, university campuses, airports, government complexes — through APOGEE systems with Insight workstations installed over the past two decades and, more recently, Desigo CC. The lineage runs back through Landis & Gyr and Powers, whose pneumatic controls still operate in the oldest Valley buildings. Bleuwave services Siemens building automation as an independent contractor, without dealer affiliation or factory authorization.
Siemens systems are capable and, in institutional settings, generally well maintained under service agreements. The buildings that come to us are the ones between agreements, the ones whose staff turned over, and the ones with legacy Landis & Gyr or Powers equipment that Siemens no longer supports — where the question is how to keep the building running and how to plan the migration.
Product Families
Siemens Equipment We Encounter
Families and designations that appear on nameplates in the Phoenix market. Capacities, refrigerants and configurations vary by model and year; we verify from the nameplate on site rather than from a catalog.
| Family | Category | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Desigo | Controls & BAS | Siemens' current building automation platform (Desigo CC) and controller families. |
| APOGEE | Controls & BAS | Long-running Siemens building automation platform with Insight workstations, still running many Phoenix institutional buildings. |
| PXC controllers | Controls & BAS | Modular and compact programmable controllers used across APOGEE and Desigo systems. |
| Landis & Gyr and Powers (legacy)Legacy | Controls & BAS | Predecessor platforms and pneumatic systems absorbed into Siemens Building Technologies. |
Siemens Platforms
APOGEE systems with Insight workstations and PXC modular and compact controllers on BACnet and Siemens' P2 and FLN networks, integrating field panels, terminal equipment controllers and third-party equipment; Desigo CC as the current management platform, with migration paths from APOGEE; and legacy Landis & Gyr System 600 and Powers pneumatic and early electronic installations in older buildings.

What Goes Wrong
Legacy Landis & Gyr and Powers controllers and pneumatics fail with few replacement options; APOGEE field panels and Insight workstations age out of support; PXC controllers, sensors and actuators fail in hot plenums and on roofs; databases accumulate overrides; sequences drift; and access is lost with staff turnover. Institutional buildings are large, and a Siemens system that is not being watched can run equipment badly for a long time before anyone notices the utility bill.
Service, Integration and Migration
We troubleshoot and repair Siemens systems at the controller, network and workstation levels; replace failed controllers, sensors and actuators; reprogram sequences; recover abandoned systems; integrate Siemens controls with the mechanical equipment we service; and plan migrations from Landis & Gyr, Powers and older APOGEE generations to Desigo or an open platform through the building automation practice.
Straight Answers
Questions About Siemens Equipment
Is Bleuwave a Siemens partner?
No. We service Siemens building automation as an independent contractor without dealer affiliation or factory authorization.
Our building still has Powers pneumatic controls. Can they be serviced?
Yes, and we do — compressors, dryers, air lines, thermostats and actuators. We also perform pneumatic-to-DDC conversions, which typically pay back through energy savings and eliminate the recurring complaint cycle.
Can APOGEE be migrated to a non-Siemens platform?
Yes. BACnet field devices integrate with most open platforms; proprietary-network devices need replacement or gateways. We assess the installed base and plan a phased migration.
